How we write and review content

Who writes our content?

Every article names its author with a link to their credentials. Clinical pages and articles are written for patients in plain language.

How is content medically reviewed?

Before an article is marked as reviewed, a qualified physician checks it for accuracy. The reviewer's name and the date of the last review appear at the top of the article. Articles still waiting for review are labelled "Medical review pending".

How often is content updated?

We aim to re-review every article at least once a year, and sooner when guidance changes. The "Updated" date shows the last content change.

How do we choose sources?

We cite reputable sources such as national health services, professional societies and peer-reviewed research, listed at the end of each article.

How readable is our content?

We check every article for reading level and aim for language most adults can follow easily, around a US grade 8 reading level.

Patient stories

We only publish patient stories with the patient's written consent, and never include details that could identify someone without permission.
